FOSI ROM

 

 

 

Foundation Open Society Institute - Representative Office Montenegro (FOSI ROM), is non-governmental and non-profit organization, established in March 2002. after reorganization of Open Society Institute - Montenegro, with aim to support development of civil society and reform programs in Montenegro.

 

FOSI ROM continue with similar civil and reform oriented programs, which had been conducted by Yugoslav Open Society Office during period between 1993-1999, and Open Society Institute Montenegro from 1999 to March 2002.

 

The Foundation Open Society Institute - Representative Office Montenegro supports the country’s efforts to develop in compliance with EU standards and practices, and to reach its developmental goals by relying upon and respecting open society values and principles.

 

FOSI ROM is a part of Open Society Institute from Zug, Switzerland and it is a part of Open Society Institute network, founded by George Soros.

 

The Foundation addresses these issues through the following programs:

 

Education Reform

  • provides expert help to key reform segments;

  • ensures transparency and accountability of the reform process.

European Program

  • educates on issues related to European integration;

  • trains and mobilizes NGOs to implement international standards and to produce reform policies;

  • supports NGO cooperation with state and local governments; 

  • informs the public about reforms and the EU integration process.

Law Program

  • building capacities of non-governmental organizations to effectively monitor implementation of international standards of human and minority rights’ protection;

  • support to civil society in projects targeting implementation of the Law on political party financing;

  • monitoring of the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information.

Public Administration and Local Government

  • supports local government institution building;

  • encourages cooperation among NGOs and local governments.

Roma Program

  • improves education for Roma children and youth;

  • furthers capacity building of Roma NGOs.

Women's Program

  • develops projects to prevent violence against women;

  • supports gender education and equality.

Capacity Development Program (CDP)

  • builds capacity of Montenegrin state institutions involved in European integration.

East East Program

  • regional program

 

 

Foundation has Board of Directors and Director. Board accepts annual strategy and approves  projects within the framework of the program.
