Mobilizing local community in decision making
Podgorica, January 2008 - Meetings with representatives of NGO sector from Pljevlja, Plav, Podgorica, Bar and Ulcinj and local community, local experts from Podgorica, Ulcinj, Plav, were held during January.
On these meetings it was discussed about potential work on Action Plan for Strategy of Sustainable Development. It was outlined that there is a need for participation in activities that pledge for improving environment status, also it was concluded that some important strategic documents (e.g. Energy Development Strategy), adopted after Strategy of Sustainable Development, is actually apposed with goals of Strategy of Sustainable Development it self.
Goal of these activities lies in mobilizing local communities to influence on decision making for important question in that community. Practice that been happening in past showed that most of strategic documents are brought and adopted (at republic level) without significant participation of local citizens.
During next month, as a part of project activities, two day workshop will be organized for representatives of local eco NGOs on the theme of better community mobilizing and implementation of politic monitoring.
