1. Supporting and Empowering Roma Parents (Mothers) and Enhancing Their Knowledge and Skills Related to Their Children's Progress
The project aims to enhance the capacity of a Roma family to support and assist their children to successfully complete their schooling. The project encompasses a training for six Roma facilitators, NGO activists, who will subsequently provide training to parents (primarily mothers) and encourage them to acknowledge the importance of education and help their children study and complete their homework. The training is planned to involve around 250 parents from Podgorica, Bar, Ulcinj, Nikšić and Berane. These towns are involved in the project Roma Education Initiative in Montenegro, which was funded by UNICEF and FOSI-ROM until October 2005, and afterwards by Roma Education Fund.
2. Empowering Roma Girls, With Special Emphasis on the Importance of Education
The project focuses on fostering support in the wider Roma community for education of Roma girls. It involves girls from five Roma sites in Nikšić, as well as Roma mothers and girls from Podgorica and Berane. Roma women, activists in a women NGO, will organize weekly workshops for girls and mothers over the period of four months. In the workshops, they will place emphasis on the importance of education and discuss human rights and freedoms as well as Roma customs and tradition.
3. Participation in the StopVAW Conference in Budapest 26-29 June 2006
Vanja Mikulic, Montenegro representative in the global project Stop Violence Against Women and member of the STOP VAW Steering Committee, participated in the project conference held in Budapest 26-29 June 2006, where she presented Montenegro page on the StopVAW web site. The Foundation covered the related travel expenses for Vanja Mikulic.
4. Participation in INDOC Conference in Baku, 10-13 May 2006
Aleksandra Kovačević, member of the NGO Anima and coordinator of the Information-documentation program (INDOC) (www.animakotor.org) participated in the INDOC Network Conference (REWIND Network) held in Baku, 10-13 May 2006. At the conference, she presented the activities of Montenegrin INDOC program and the publication titled "Feminoscope of the Media", developed within the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP). The Foundation covered the related travel expenses for Aleksandra Kovačević.
1. A Step towards Gender Sensitive Politics
The project relates to a four-day seminar in Kotor which is to give to politicians the new knowledge and raise awareness regarding gender equality issues, which is important from the point of view of the adoption and implementation of the relevant new legislation (Gender Equality Law and National Action Plan). The seminar has been designed in such a manner to develop the understanding for gender equality issues and encourage the trainees to create own action plans on the basis of which they are to promote gender equality within their scope of competences. The seminar is a direct contribution to the efforts for the Gender Equality Law to be brought before the Parliament of Montenegro as soon as possible and for gender mainstreaming to be exercised at all levels. This activity will be additionally supported by the relevant analysis conducted within the INDOK project.
1. 7th International Women's Trade Union School of the Women's Network of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions
The International Trade Union School, which is one of the activities of the Women’s Committee of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, deals with labor and social rights of women, important guidelines being here the gender and social standards of European Union and the Council of Europe. Traditionally, a declaration is passed at these gatherings which promotes the relevant gender issues and serves as a starting point for encouraging the social dialogue and for establishing gender-sensitive policies. This year this traditional School will be held in late August in Montenegro. The participants of the four-day School will be some 150 women – trade union activists from some thirty countries. The Foundation covers a share of expenses for the organization of the 7th International Women's Trade Union School.
1. National STOP VAW Monitors – a joint project of OSI – Budapest, Minnesota Human Rights Advocates and UNIFEM
The website Stop Violence Against Women – STOP VAW (www.stopvaw.org), launched by Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, supported by UNIFEM and OSI Network Women's Program, serves to exchange information and provide tools for advocacy and initiating actions to prevent violence against women. National monitors from 29 countries gather information in the field and send it to the STOP VAW website. The monitors for Montenegro are Vanja Mikulic from NGO SOS line - Podgorica and Irena Milatovic from the Gender Equality Office. The Foundation supports the work of the monitors, the presentation of the STOP VAW to women’s NGOs and the domestic public, and the publication and presentation of the monitors’ reports that are to be submitted to the European Parliament in May 2006. In 2005 the Foundation also supported the work of the national STOP VAW monitors.

1. Publication on the use of gender-sensitive language
The project refers to the publication of presentations of academics from Montenegro, Serbia and Norway and activists of local NGOs from the round table discussion entitled "The Use of Gender-Sensitive Language". It was held on 22.2.2006 and was organized by the Gender Equality Office of the Government of Montenegro. The papers published by this project are based on the recommendation of the Council of Europe to the governments of Member States to adopt measures on the introduction of the language which respects the participation, the status and the role of women in a society. The recommendation also refers to the harmonisation of the language of legal texts with the principle of gender equality. The publication will be presented at a press conference.
2. INDOK 2006 - Information and documentation program
INDOK is engaged in documentation, information and research into the position and role of women. The activities envisaged for 2006 are as follows: continuation of the establishment of the data base, updating the women's NGO group guide, publication of Pressjek (analysis of articles in the press relating to women), publication of the magazine ZINEC (texts in feminist theory and Montenegrin practice), supplementing the documentation, updating the web page, active participation in REWIND NET (international network of information and documentation centres) and educational workshops. The new activities envisaged for this year are regular media monitoring and establishing the electronic magazine aimed at extending cooperation and having better information for women's NGOs in Montenegro. The Foundation supported the "Information and documentation programme" in 2004 and in 2005.
The interdisciplinary program of Women's Studies is one of a kind in Montenegro, attended so far by three generations of students over three years. Apart from education in feminist theory and practice, the program implies the involvement of students in the local community and work within the NGO Anima, initiating peace activism and other women-related issues in meetings, seminars, lectures, workshops, actions, discussion groups and research. The topics planned for 2006 are: basic concepts in feminism; language, gender and literature and women; women and peace movement; social construction of identity; women and law; women, globalization, transition; women and democratic culture; women and the media; women and violence; European integrations and perspectives. The Foundation supported the Women's Studies in 2002, when they were experimental, in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
