Year 2003

  • Institution of Ombudsman and Reporting About Violation of Human Rights (NGO «Manifesto», «Polje» Magazine and Montenegro Media Institute)

This project is follow up of the previous project implemented in year 2002 by Montenegro Media Institute; at the same time it is part of a bigger project of raising awareness campaign about institution of Ombudsman in Montenegro, aimed to support the process of establishing Ombudsman in Montenegro. The goal of introduction of Ombudsman in Montenegro is to increase the level of citizen protection in relation to public administration and local government institutions. This campaign was initiated by the Ministry of Justice, helped by international organizations  (OSCE, UNHCHR, COE, USAID/MAP, EAR/PARIM)

During the training, participants were informed about human rights and history of Ombudsman - experienced journalists and ex Ombudsman’s PR from the Region (Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) shared experience and information discussing real life cases. The training was implemented with the coordination and help of UNHCHR and OSCE and the result was information dissemination and increased understanding of human rights, institution of Ombudsman in Montenegro, its functions, tasks and responsibilities. The training also encouraged journalists to take a more comprehensive approach to violation of human rights and provide media space for the cases.

  • Legal Report 1/2002 (Association of Lawyers of Montenegro)

This project represents continued effort on strengthening the rule of law in Montenegro. Legal Report 2002 is collection of analyses, comparisons and research about public administration, local government and judiciary reform. Its publishing aims to raise awareness about issues in the areas mentioned above and stimulate public debate about implementation of the best solutions.
