European Year of Equal Opportunities 2007 OSI Roma Decade Matching Fund
Background
The European Commission (EC) has designated 2007 as “European Year of Equal Opportunities for All” (EYEO2007) as part of a concerted effort to promote equality and non-discrimination in the EU. The European Year is the centerpiece of a framework strategy designed to ensure that discrimination is effectively tackled, diversity is celebrated and equal opportunities for all are promoted.
Activities at European and national level will address discrimination that people experience because of their race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation or disability and will evolve around four themes:
Besides an EU level campaign, activities under the EYEO2007 will be coordinated by National Implementing Bodies which are responsible for defining the national strategy and priorities for the EYEO2007 in their countries. They will also recommend individual activities that will qualify for funding from the EC.
